Teachers taking this for Professional Development can claim this for taxation purposes.

 

For Graduate Students:  This is the double unit THEO 626 Bible Lands Study Tour. 

You will need to enrol in this unit for the semester Spring B of 2009.

We estimate that the group will meet once during November, and then travel from around Dec 9 to 31.

The unit is worth 20 credit points.

 

Auditors are welcome and others beyond the University interested in a guided study tour.

Proposed Itinerary

 

Depart:  Dec 10th.             

 

                                    Arrive              Jerusalem

 

Sat. 12 th                                Sections and Walls of Jerusalem. 

Close of Sabbath prayers at the Temple Mount.

 

Sun 13th.                                Worship. Jerusalem in O. T. times. The city of David, Siloam.

 

Mon. 14th                               Jerusalem. The Temple Mount. The Ophel, Ecce Homo, St.

                                                Anne's, Bethesda

 

The following Galilee days may be adjusted as I suspect I may have too much in the first day.

 

Tues 15.                                 Travel to Galilee along the Mediterranean. Caesarea Maritime;

Galilee 1                                Carmel, Sepphoris , excavations under Nazareth

                                   

Wed. 16                                Mt Hermon, Tel Dan, Caesarea Philippi, return via the Golan.

Galilee 2                                ( This day will depend on safety in the area)

                                                (Stay Scottish Hospice Tiberias)

 

Thurs 17th.                             Excavations at Capernaum. Tabgha. Mount of the

Galilee 3                                Beatitudes.

 

Fri 18th                                   Excavation at Tiberias.   Boat trip on Sea of Galilee.                              

Galilee 4.

 

Saturday  19^th                        Mt. Tabor. Belvoir. Excavations of Beit Shean. Return to

Galilee 5                                Jerusalem along the Jordan route via Jericho.

 

Sun 20^th                                  Jerusalem: Sun 5th   Worship.  FREE DAY.

                                                Option: Holocaust Museum

 

Mon 21^st                                 Jericho. Qumran, Masada. The Dead Sea.

 

Tuesday 22nd                        Israel Museum, Shrine of the Book

 

Wed 23^rd                                Church of the Holy Sepulchre -Golgotha. Tomb of the Resurrection.

 

Thursday 24^th                                 Trip to Shepeherd's fields & Bethlehem.  Church of Nativity

                                                (If possible stay for evening Eucharist in Bethlehem)

 

Friday 25^th                             Mt. Olives to Bethany. Bethpage, Gethsemane.  

                                                Dominus Flevit. Gethsemane, Way of the Cross

                                   

Sat 26th                                  Journey to Emmaus, Ein Karim.

                                               

Sun 27th                                 Amman, Jordan.                

 

Mon 28^th                                 Madaba, Machaerus, Overnight in Petra.

 

 

Tues 29^th                                          Petra  - return to Amman.

 

Wed 30^th                                Mt Nebo, return to Jerusalem.

Thursday 31^st                         Transfer to Tel Aviv.  Departure.

Based on Twin share accommodation for 30 students.
