Bachelor of Teaching/Bachelor of Arts
Majors, Minors and Teaching Subjects
Course Coordinators: Dr Bill Franzsen (Years 1 and 2) and Dr Cyril Quinlan (Years 3 and 4)
All students enrolled in the BTeach/BA course will complete an Education major. Students will also select two teaching subjects in which to complete a major and a minor. Students wishing to major in Theological Studies will complete a major in another teaching subject rather than a minor.
If you want to see the general plan of your entire course then pick your specialization from below.
Teaching Subjects
You must choose two teaching subjects from the following list. To see a typical sequence of units for each subject follow the links.
Major
A Major is an approved sequence of units in one discipline or approved interdisciplinary area totalling at least 8 units, normally including at least 1 unit at Introductory level and at
least 6 units at Advanced level. If you follow the sequence of units suggested in the BT/BA Course Information Guide then you should have no problems.
If you miss a unit for any reason you should see your course coordinator to check that
your sequence will meet the regulation.
There are four exceptions to this general description.
Minor
A Minor is an approved sequence of units in one discipline or approved interdisciplinary area totalling at least 4 units, normally including at least 1 unit at
Introductory level and at least 2 units at Advanced level.
Non-Teaching Subjects
Students in the BT/BA must also complete 4 further units.
Otherwise students will complete a third minor, you will not take Curriculum studies in this subject. This minor may be in any of the Teaching Subjects or one of the following.
Note that apart from BT/BA(Tech), BT/BA(Maths) and BT/BA(Vis Arts) students this third minor must be in a third subject.
