Electronic Submission of Assignments to
Dr Bill Franzsen
Assignments can be submitted electronically, subject to the following conditions:
- You have read and understood all the information contained on this page, from the title at the top down to the link to the main page at the bottom.
- The total size of all files comprising your submission must not exceed 1MB, so be careful with pictures and scanned pages. (I will accept compressed files that Zip or Stuffit can expand, but do not make self-extracting archives as any executible files
will be deleted unopened.) This limit includes the cover page that must be submitted with all assignments.
- The file should preferably be a TeX file, either Plain, LaTeX or AMSTeX. Otherwise the only acceptable formats are pdf, Word, rtf or other formats that are easily readable by
Microsoft Word.
- No file containing Word macros or scripts or similar will be accepted, indeed any message with such a file attached will be deleted unopened even if the macro was placed there by a virus or similar.
- You have told me after a lecture or tutorial or by phone that you intend to submit the assignment electronically. If you intend to submit all your assignments electronically you only need to
tell me your intention once.
- The subject of the message is made up as follows: If your student number is S00012345 and you are submitting assignment IV in MATH123 then the subject line is
'Assignment IV MATH123: S00012345' or 'Assignment 4 MATH123: S00012345'. (Or indeed any subject that starts with the word 'Assignment' and contains the assignment number, the unit code and your
student number.)
- There must be a return email address, to which you have access, associated with the message.
- The due date and time is the same as for written assignments. An assignment that meets the above conditions will be deemed to be submitted when it is received by the main ACU mail server.
- You accept that you can only gain marks for what is written or printed, not what you intended to write or type.
By submitting an assignment electronically you are making the following declaration:
Declaration Of Originality
In accordance with Regulation 4.5 I hereby declare that this submission is my own work and that, to the best of my knowledge and belief, it contains no material previously published or written by another person or myself, nor material which to a substantial extent has been accepted for the award of any other unit, degree or diploma of a university or any other institute of higher learning, except where due acknowledgment is made in the text.
I have made and retained a copy of this original assignment.
The address for submission of assignments to Dr Bill Franzsen is b.franzsen@mary.acu.edu.au.
Once you have submitted an assignment electronically you should receive a reply that acknowledges receipt and printing of the assignment. If you do not receive this within 1 working day
of submitting your assignment you should phone me: (02) 9701 4137 to discuss the problem. Note that this reply will be sent to the return address associated with the message. If the submission does
not meet the above conditions or cannot be printed you will receive a message explaining why, you should then either submit a written or printed copy or retry electronically with an adjusted file. Note that the due date and time
will not be extended in this case.
