Welcome to the Ageing Research and Education website!
Changes in the patterns of population have confronted decision-makers and researchers with complex challenges. ACU National (ACU) responds to this challenge with a multi-faceted and whole-of-institution approach to ageing research and education. These involve inter-related and multi-disciplinary themes across campuses to achieve quality learning, social inclusion and personal wellbeing. Research, teaching and learning programs are increasingly balanced with community engagement. Researchers share a commitment to social justice and an interest in promoting quality of life.
A number of integrating research themes, identified as flagships, encapsulate the core values of ACU. Social science research findings underpin these themes to incorporate a whole-of-life cycle from development in early years through to tertiary and lifelong education. Research reflects the importance of ethical analysis and social reflection across the lifespan. Scientific literacy is progressively enhanced. Mathematical understanding is promoted for social, environmental and economic wellbeing; and science and technology information are augmented to meet the needs of economic vitality for building a socially cohesive society

Monika Bhatia comes with a postgraduate in Humanities and Social Sciences and a long history of community engagement at relevant Federal, State and Local Government levels. Her particular interest is community development research. She is engaged with a cross-section of non-profit organisations working at the intersection of social policy research and societal practice.
