ÿENDNENFT0L$Untitled Style”Style Manual for Authors, Editors and Printers. 6th ed. (Wiley, 2002) ÆThere is no official manual of the Harvard style and many different versions are in use. This EndNote output style is based on the Harvard style recommended in the 6th edition of the "Style Manual for Authors, Editors and Printers" published by Wiley in 2002. The main points to note in using this style are: 1. In-Text Citations a. When inserting temporary citations in the manuscript, remove author's name if author is cited in text. In EndNote 5 and later versions, this can be done using the Edit Citations function and checking the Exclude Author option. b. If specific page numbers are to be added to an in-text citation, add the number(s) following the @ symbol at the end of the temporary citation. In EndNote 5 and later versions, this can be done using the Edit Citations function and entering the page number in the Pages box. c. If adding other details to an in-text citation (e.g. volume or chapter numbers), add the full details at the end of the temporary citation, and do not use the @ symbol. In EndNote 5 and later versions, this can be done using the Edit Citations function and inserting the data in the Suffix box. d. When different primary authors have the same surname, the authors' initials will be added to the temporary citation. Remove the stops and spaces (if any) from the initials to conform to the requirements of the AGPS style. 2. Bibliography a. This EndNote output style will not alter the capitalisation of the references as entered in your EndNote library. For those references to be compatible with the AGPS style, they must use headline capitalisation for the titles of journals and newspapers, and sentence capitalisation for the titles of books, journal articles, newspaper articles, book chapters, films and unpublished material (including theses). b. The Style Manual recommends that journal titles should not be abbreviated. All the journal article references in your library should give the full journal titles. Alternatively, you can set up a journals term list which gives full titles. c. For Conference Proceedings, EndNote output styles are never able to include the place of publication in the bibliographical reference. Published conference proceedings should always be entered in your EndNote library as Book Sections (if the reference is to one paper) or Edited Books (if the reference is to a whole volume of proceedings). The Conference Proceedings reference type should only be used for unpublished conference papers. d. This EndNote style has not been configured to deal specifically with less common types of material (e.g. patents, maps). Such references may need to be edited in the formatted paper. Alternatively, edit the Bibliography Templates in this style to provide for the particular reference type. ============== Output style written by John East, University of Queensland Library, 18 April 2002.
