EZproxy FAQ

I never see the page where I am supposed to enter my username and password

If you don't see a page (titled "Library Resources Login") where you're asked for your username and password, then the problem is either:

  1. You didn't use a link to the database that routed you through our EZproxy server. This could happen if you bookmark a database or if you're not using a URL that begins with this prefix:

  2. http://ezproxy.acu.edu.au/login?url=

to find your URL please see the Required format for prefixes

  3. Your computer is behind a firewall. If you just get a blank page that eventually times-out with a "destination unreachable" message, you're probably the victim of a firewall on your local network. See the firewall section.

After I log in, I get a security warning indicating that I am about to be redirected to a connection that is not secure. Should I be worried?

No, just choose the "yes" or "ok" button to continue. The proxy server uses a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) connection to encrypt your username and password, protecting it from hackers. Once you have logged in, the server connects you to the requested resource, which usually does not use SSL, so some browsers provide a warning message. You do not need to worry, because the proxy server never sends your username or password to the subscription resource.

When I click on a link, I get a page asking for a username and password rather than the one asking for my ACU username and password.

If this happens to you, please let us know via the feedback form. In the meantime, you can sign into EZProxy directly and navigate to the resource from there.
