Welcome to the web site of the School of Arts and Sciences, Victoria.
The School has staff on ACU’s two Victorian campuses – St Patrick’s in Melbourne and Aquinas in Ballarat. The academic staff focus on teaching and research in the areas of Humanities, Visual and Performing Arts, Social Sciences and Physical and Biological Sciences. It comprises staff expert in a range of Disciplinary areas: Drama, History, Japanese, Literature, Media, Music, Politics, Physical and Biological Sciences, Sociology, Youth Studies and Visual Arts. The School offers a broad range of subjects across a number of majors and minors. The specialisations offered provide graduates with a range of employment opportunities in a diversity of industries.
Staff at St Patrick’s teach in a range of degree courses in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, as well as service teaching for the Faculties of Education and Health Sciences. At Aquinas campus, staff undertake service teaching for Education and Health Sciences. They also travel to Melbourne to teach within the degree courses run by this School.
In addition, staff supervise students in a number of discipline areas at Honours, Masters and Doctoral levels.
The School holds firmly to the Mission of the University of seeking ‘to make a specific contribution to its local, national and international communities’ and staff of the School engage actively in a range of community service in addition to their teaching and research.
